Free Expression There are eight values of Free Expression, each freedom is unique but also comes together to paint a better picture when it comes to our diversity and what we say and how we express it. Below are the eight freedoms and how I interpret it. 1. Marketplace of Ideas- Suggested by John Milton, believes that the truth will always win against lies. There should not be a license needed to print/publish. 2. Participation in Self-Government- Citizens should be informed about everything that a political candidate has to offer. There should be no restrictions. 3. Stable Change- People should be allowed to speak or "vent" if we want to see less violence. It also helps the government keep an eye on particular groups that are subject to violence or considered dangerous. 4. Individual Self-Fulfillment- Humans can find themselves by having free speech. 5. Check on Governmental Power- The Press is allowed to write about the government abusing their power.
